Item House designs, manufactures, and distributes quality, fashionable women’s and men’s coats and outerwear under the Kristen Blake, Trina Turk, George Simonton, Forecaster of Boston, Sachi, Metro, Blake, and Pendleton labels.
Our beginnings were simple, but our evolution was dramatic.
In 1956 a retailer out of Seattle and a manufacturer in the Tacoma area came up with the idea to form a quick-turn fashion house with one goal in mind: to create great-looking, bestselling items that women would love. A few years later Item House was established.
As the brand and the company grew, so did the desire for more originality. Item House became more of a design business in the early- to mid-’90s.
We were one of the first in the outerwear business to bring fabrics in from Italy–at one time a high percentage of our woolens and cashmere blends came from there. Then we started developing our own brands such as Kristen Blake and Forecaster of Boston, which became very strong, especially in the Midwest and on the East Coast. Today we work with designers like Trina Turk and George Simonton creating coat collections for the bridge market.
Whether our customers desire the latest trends, the perfect coat for their region, or even outerwear to suit a particular climate, Item House provides it. We ship thousands of coats and outerwear annually to major department stores such as Nordstrom, Saks, Lord & Taylor, Bloomingdale’s, Macy’s, and even Costco, as well as to specialty stores across the nation.
Our team focuses on quality, design and trends, and our influences are more global than ever. Not only is our business expanding in the United States, Canada, and Mexico, but also in Europe and eventually into Asia.
We have designers based in New York, Seattle, Providence, Boston and Shanghai.
