Preparing for Fall 2013

Have you ever wondered what goes into preparing a fall fashion line? Well, here at Item House Inc., we do it every year and let us tell you…it’s tough! Here is a peek into the process for Fall 2013.

1. NEW IDEAS

This is the brainstorming stage where we look at international runways, successful past styles and inspirations from our designer’s travels around the world.

2. SAMPLES

We receive fabric samples such as Wool, Down and Rain while partnering with our New York and Shanghai offices for pattern work, tech packs and new ideas. We analyze fabrics from all over the world including trims and silhouettes.

3. COLLABORATION

After working with our customers Nordstrom, Saks, Bloomingdales and Neimans, we decide the direction of our coat business for Fall 2013. We discuss trending color, fabrication, and silhouette in order to drive business.

4. FEEDBACK

Based on Fall 2012 customer feedback and sales results, we make changes to apparel and business practices.

5. FINISHING TOUCHES

This year, that entailed finalizing the new website, approving photos, creating a behind the scenes video and copy. We also confirm public relations and marketing strategies.

6. LOOKING TO THE FUTURE

We are already getting excited for upcoming markets: New York Coterie in February and the LA market in January/ March to show the Fall 2013 line. Keep your eyes out for us!
