Kristen Blake and the Ultimately Essential Coat

Outerwear can prove to be more of an investment than, say, a trendy dress you buy for one season. Coats last through many seasons and hopefully years, depending on their durability and ability to transcend the waves of trends. When you consider buying a coat this spring, we recommend choosing something that will not only physically hold up through time, but that will remain a solid fashion statement.

Unlike virtually every other type of garment ever, trenchcoats never fall out of style. Humphrey Bogart, Audrey Hepburn, Catherine Deneuve, and modern celebrities such as Maggie Gyllenhaal and Kate Hudson all have rocked the trench. Paired with jeans, sundresses, trousers, you name it–it’s been done, and it looks great.

Springtime Bohemian Trend with Trina Turk

Spring has Sprung!

Maybe you’ve had a chance to sit in the park with a book, run through a light spring shower under an umbrella, or purchase tickets to an upcoming music festival; in any case, spring has finally arrived! As you prime your closet for spring shenanigans, take a look at one of spring’s most classic and spirited trends — the bohemian look.

Take it from Kate

Who does boho better than Kate Moss? Whether it’s an energetic print, a flowing fit, or fun jewelry, Kate has mastered the boho aesthetic. She herself finds inspiration from the 70’s and her friend Marianne Faithfull, and other celebrities such as Nicole Richie and Mary-Kate Olsen follow in her boho booted footprints.

Get the Look with Trina Turk

Spring’s arrival has prompted many new and great arrivals from Trina Turk. We’ll break down boho style with some of the designer’s gorgeous new boho-inspired pieces.

Deidi Dress $298.00 | Turn it Up Dress $358.00

One of the simplest and most flattering interpretations of boho is the maxi dress. Choose a fun print or solid color and let your movements do the rest as the dress ripples gracefully with every step. Because maxi dresses cover from top to toe, give the eye something to look at with fun accessories such as flashy bracelets or costume jewelry rings. If you are on the shorter side, a great pair of heels helps to keep you looking long and lean rather than disappearing in the dress. For a more casual look, pair your maxi dress with a pretty pair of sandals and a floppy brimmed hat.

Sola Tank $248.00 | Kimmie Tank $188.00

Though maxi dresses are fun, they aren’t always practical for meetings or long days outside. For these things, the versatility of a simple but colorful boho top will become essential to your spring and summer wardrobe this year. Dress up your printed top with a blazer and a skirt, or dress it down with your favorite pair of shorts or jeans and a bold necklace. Boho isn’t fussy, so don’t overthink it!

Lore Dress 398.00 | Performance Dress 268.00

If it’s time to hit happy hour after work or dress it up for a fun date, there is no better option than a fun boho minidress. While still conveying the carefree and upbeat spirit of bohemian style, the cut of this boho dress will bring up the formality factor. Pair with a gorgeous pair of heels and gold jewelry and you’re ready to hit the town!

Enjoy the Spring and check out more new arrivals from Trina Turk!

Trina Turk “Lucy” Coat Brings Color to New York Winter

Kimberly Pesch hails from the East coast where she works as a graphic designer and documents her personal style with the blog eat.sleep.wear. This week, Kimberly looks back on Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in New York when the infamous blizzard hit. Though many locals turned to their puffy coats and North Face, Kimberley opted for her cozy Trina Turk Lucy Zip Coat.

It is clear from Kimberly’s style that she appreciates a good pop of color–her fun pink boots match her lipstick and hat, and the vivid blue Lucy coat can’t help but draw the eye in.

“I don’t know about you,” writes Kimberly, “but rain, sleet and snow leave me stumped on what to wear. But, rather than let the snow get me down, I went for some bold and bright color and pattern to shake things up in this winter wonderland.”
